The house sits on a quiet bay, where one can hear the sound of the Loons calling each other. In the summer, sit on the deck or enjoy the only circular boathouse in the Park, with its spiral staircase up to a lookout, 3 boat slips, 2 canoes, a paddle boat, 2 kayaks, and a slide on floating dock. You also have direct access to miles and miles of canoeing which is the famous Upper and Lower Lowe`s waterway - here you can canoe and camp if you want to get out into the primitive wilderness. The famous Bog River Falls are half a mile away. Coney Mountain, a favorite mountain to hike with outstanding views of the Adirondack Park is about 2 miles away, Mt Arab lookout is 20 minutes away, plus Ampersand is 30 minutes away. The 46 peaks are an hour away, as are the towns of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.
In the winter bring your snowshoes, snowmobile, sled, ice skates, ice fishing gear and ski gear.
For the skiers, Big Tupper Ski area is now open. It is a fabulous family mountain just 10 minutes away, offering 2 chair lifts and 15-20 trails. $15 per day lift passes, plus ski and snowboard lessons and rentals. Open Christmas week, winter break and Friday-Sundays. Gore, Titus and Whiteface are all about an hour away. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are available in the forest nearby, as is snowmobiling - just head up the road to Horseshoe Lake. In the Fall, enjoy the cacophany of colors from the foliage, which can be seen from every window in the house.
