The guest house cabin has everything you need for a relaxed and comfortable getaway from it all vacation. We do our utmost to keep the cabin clean and fresh for each renter. We want you to have an enjoyable, carefree stay at the guest house.
Nestled on the side of Pakatakan Mountain in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, our newly renovated cabin is located in the Margaretville, Arkville, Roxbury, Belleayre area of Delaware County New York. These areas are noted for its beauty and abundance of accessible New York State and New York City Watershed land for recreational use.
The guest house cabin is situated on 9 private woodland acres bordering New York State Forest Preserve with its own private driveway. You can have a great hiking and nature experience right from the guest house property!. Wildlife is often seen on the property grounds.
A new large eat in kitchen contains all the necessities for your cooking and dining pleasure. The guest house also has a large heated entry room which overlooks the deck and is a great place to sit and unwind at anytime of the day. The grounds feature logging roads which connect you to miles of state trails across acres and acres of pristine forest. Winter and early spring feature mountain views, summer, a richness of green as the forest is in its glory and autumn, an array of colors and apples on the property`s 5 apple trees.
The cabin has a nice selection of books and movies as well as board games for you indoor entertainment as well as a cozy woodburning fireplace insert stove. Outside is a dinning area with gas grill. In warm months there is small volleyball net steup on grounds and horseshoe pits. Trail Hiking is right from the cabin. Great Snowshoeing in winter!
Visit the area antique shops and the Catskill Artisian`s Guild Retail Shop in Margaretville or attend an old time local auction every Saturday night to bid on that special find!

A perfect little cabin styled after an English cottage. It is suited for a family or close friends to unwind in the lap of nature. Staying for a weekend is not sufficient with the things to do in the area and the perfect location of the cabin. The cabin is available for rent on daily weekly or possible longer. Situated just off the 28 (0.2 miles) and yet seems like far far away from hustle and bustle. I was visiting with two kids aged 1 and 3 and was not sure if this was the right choice. But the cabin has all the amenities that is required on a trip. The lakes are close by and so is the grocery shop and eating joints. The house is fully furnished and you could spend days on the front deck, the back garden or the open dining table with friends and family or just by yourself. Ambiance is perfect. There are fishing and walking gear in the cabin, and the cabin has a lot of character - courtesy the creative owner, Mike & Robin. Mike and Robin are perfect hosts, never too intrusive, but always available when requested. Beings locals, they know the vicinity and can provide useful local information. The house has a nice collection of books, VHS and Dvds. Deer and rabbits roam about freely in the front and there is a hiking trail just behind the house. Bears are a possibility, but did not see any during my stay. A trip to the place is very rejuvenating and refreshing. I would definitely love to come back to the cabin.
"Perfect Weekend Getaway"
My husband and I recently stayed at the Guest House over Labor Day weekend and were thrilled with our experience. The Guest House is the perfect place for a weekend getway. The home was extremly clean, comfortable and everything was in great working order. Robin & Mike are fantastic hosts and really thought of everything for their guests! We had a wonderful time and are already planning our next trip back!
My husband and I looked forward to spending a week with four of our grandchildren exploring the area around Margaretville so we booked the Pakatakan guest house. What a great find! The kids were thrilled with the fishing equipment, the swing, bunnies and chipmunks, the games, the DVD player and movies; I loved the large well equipped eat-in kitchen, laundry facilities, the deck overlooking the woods and lawn. And my husband loved listening to the birds, having a trail right out back of the house. There`s nothing lovelier than listening to a wood thrush in the morning and evening. The cabin is so comfortable and clean. Robin and Mike pay attention to all the details that make you feel welcome, including providing maps, directions, and suggestions based on your interests. After returning home the fifteen year old posted on his Facebook page that this was the best vacation ever!

I loved staying here! In fact, I`ve stayed at this cabin a few times now and each time I`m reminded of how great it is. It`s been so nice to get out of the city to relax, and stay in a cabin that feels warm and spacious, surrounded by beautiful wilderness. This place makes all the stress disappear! Mike a Robin are always really nice, and are eager to help with suggestions of thing to do and see in the area. It`s a great location, between Arkville and Margretville. You don`t need to go far to find hikes, explore the towns, shop at the flea & farmer`s markets, and on a hot day great swimming holes. In case you can`t tell, I highly recommend this place.
We came for a weekend and it was a perfect retreat from Manhattan. The kitchen had everything we could need to make home cooked meals. And the living room was a great retreat after dinner with a bottle of wine, a fire and movie from your library. We poked around Arkville, Margaretville and the local scene during the days. People were friendly and willing to offer advice on what to do in town. We had long chats with store owners about their travels and experiences. This is why New Yorkers love getting away to places like the Catskill region. The pace is slower, the people are different, and the stars shine bright at night. Maria

A wonderful clean, quiet place in the country. All the amenities for a comfortable stay. I love cooking in the large kitchen and the warmth of the wood stove. We have had some bad experiences with rentals, but we would love to come back here again for ski rentals.
