Longview at Warner Bay
A Four Season Adirondack Rental
--------
Experience the Adirondacks and Lake George
Spend a week or more enjoying all the splendor of the great outdoors on beautiful Lake George in the Adirondack Park, New York. Live in "Longview," a real log cabin nestled on the water`s edge of Warner Bay. Enjoy the pure waters of Lake George with your own reserved dock slip that can fit a 27-foot boat or splash and swim off of the dock; relax on the elevated sun deck.
This log cabin is perched high on the shore, offering an incredible long view over the tranquil waters of Lake George`s Warner Bay toward Rockhurst and Long Island. Comfortably sized with almost 3,000 SF of living space, it features a cathedral ceiling family room with a working wood fireplace, a modern kitchen, five bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and a two-car garage.
A first floor master bedroom with a queen bed and sitting area provides easy first floor accessibility. On the second floor, two more bedrooms with queen beds, a fun "bunk room" that sleeps four in twins, and another master with a king-size bed and private bathroom, can accommodate up to 12 guests. Not to worry about sticky August nights as each bedroom has its own air conditioning assuring everyone a comfortable night`s sleep.
This is not a primitive cabin. While staying here, you will still be as connected as you want to be with wireless DSL internet access, cable, and a TV with a built in DVD player. Use the modern kitchen to cook family feasts or venture out to one of the nearby restaurants. Watch a sunset or head out for a night of fun of miniature golf, rides at Great Escape or a shopping spree at the outlets. Spend the day downhill or cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or tubing at one of the nearby Mountains. Check out a drive-in movie or curl up by the fire and read that book you`ve been carrying around.

Four Season Activities & Family Fun
Boating and other water activities await from your reserved boat slip. Fischer`s Marina, close by in Warner Bay, affords a convenient location to launch your boat and buy fuel. Additionally, Longview is close to nearly everything else: 20 minutes to Lake George Village by car or get there "Adirondack`s style" in your boat and tie up at one of the public docks. Just because you are at "the lake" doesn`t mean you still can`t go to the beach. A few minutes down the road from Longview on Pilot Knob is a quaint little sandy beach that offers a lifeguard during the summer. `Million Dollar Beach` in Lake George Village offers a more upscale experience with a bathhouse, lifeguards, picnic areas, volleyball and a large sandy beach.
Internationally acclaimed Camp Chingachgook, a mere 8 minutes down the road, offers day camp for younger children and 2-week sleep away sessions for older kids. For "boardwalk style" summer fun, enjoy the rides and water park at Great Escape/Six Flags or visit the Magic Forest (for the younger kids). Of course, no vacation would be complete without some time to check out the local retail scene. In addition to the interesting local shops, theres plenty of fantastic, name-brand outlet shopping. If you are looking for a little more sophistication, you can travel about 45 minutes to Saratoga to shop, dine or take in the spectacle of a horse race at the track.
You don`t need a gym to get a great cardio workout when mountain trails sit minutes away from Longview`s door. Available right off of Pilot Knob Road are two trail heads-one offers access to a wide network of hikes of varying difficulty, distances and skill levels, including a 6.6 mile trail to the summit of Buck Mountain, that overlooks the Narrows at about 2000 FT elevation. Right across the street is a trailhead that offers a two-tiered hike up to a gazebo lake overlook and then onward up to a waterfall. A word of advice: bring plenty of water and an energy bar snack! Still looking for more adventure? White water rafting, parasailing, kayaking, biking trails, jet ski rental, guided horseback rides on trails, and mountain biking are close by. Gore Mountain opens its trails for hikes and mountain biking in the summer and early fall. Try a hot air balloon ride over Lake George or take a narrated cruise on one of the lakes unique steamboats. Play golf? There are several championship golf courses in the area, including two public courses within 20 minutes of Longview.
In the winter, Longview is ideally located for easy access to downhill and cross country ski areas. Gore Mountain is about 45-60 minutes away, with snowmaking on 95% of its 60 trails. It has a summit elevation of 3,600 feet and a vertical drop of 2,100 feet. West Mountain is within a 20 minutes drive and is a smaller, easier mountain that has a kid friendly ski school. It also offers non-skiing fun for the entire family on its snow tubing hill. Vermont ski mountains are as near as 1-1/2 to 2 hours away. Cross country skiers have numerous options within a 20-60 minute drive, not to mention direct access to the trails off of Pilot Knob Road. Extensive groomed and non-groomed snow mobile trails are within a 10-15 minute drive of Longview, offering a wide range of trail types. If snow shoeing is your thing, the trails off of Pilot Knob offer varied terrain from gentle paths to steep challenges up to the nearby mountain summits. Drive a little farther and there are dozens of trail networks that offer extensive winter hike/snow shoe/cross country skiing opportunities. Lake George has a great Winter Festival that has races, food and other fun activities. You can find indoor ice skating year round at The Lake George Forum where you can free skate and even take some lessons.
Looking for something cultural to exercise your mind? In the summer, the Saratoga Performing Arts center offers the New York City Ballet, the Philadelphia Orchestra and various other musical performances. There is a dinner theatre in Lake George Village that operates from mid-June to mid-October. Like museums? In Glens Falls you can visit the Hyde Collection and the Chapman for fine art. For local history, Lake George`s Fort William Henry Museum and Battlefield Park are great places to start. The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake (about an hour away, May to mid-October) offers extensive exhibits covering the history, life and legends of the Adirondacks.
